DECLARING THE FOURTH WEEK OF SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS MEDICINE WEEK AND AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION TO TAKE CHARGE OF THE OBSERVANCE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, although gradual progress is being achieved in the field of medicine in the country today, there are still a number of our countrymen who do not fully recognize the value of medical science in their daily lives; and
WHEREAS, in order to fully develop a consciousness among our people of the value of scientific medical practices, it is necessary that a period be set aside for the observance of the medical profession;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby designate the fourth week of September of every year as Medicine Week. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to observe this occasion. I authorize the Philippine Medical Association to take charge of the observance of Medicine Week.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 30th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the twelfth.
