PROCLAMATION NO. 449

TRANSFERRING COURTESY WEEK FROM THE SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER TO THE FOURTH WEEK OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR.

WHEREAS, the yearly celebration of Courtesy Week has proved effective in paving the way for a more courteous and dedicated service among government employees; and

WHEREAS, such an auspicious occasion should be celebrated more fittingly at the beginning of the year to inculcate in the minds of government employees the need for courtesy in their dealings with the general public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby move the observance of Courtesy Week from the second week of October to the fourth week of January of every year and designate the Civil Service Commission to coordinate and take charge of the occasion.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
