PROCLAMATION NO. 276
DECLARING THE THIRD WEEK OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR AS MEAT SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK
WHEREAS, it is the mandate of the State to protect public health;
WHEREAS, there are diseases communicable between animal and man, or meat may contain residues in excess of established limits; or meat can cause food borne infection or intoxication if unhygienically handled, or the meat may be adulterated in some other ways;
WHEREAS, the public can only be best protected from the danger of consuming uninspected meat if they can be aware of the quality and safety standard of the product.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the third week of October of every year as “Meat Safety Consciousness Week”, under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture and the National Meat Inspection Commission.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
