On December 13, 2013, President Benigno S. Aquino III, who was in Japan for a three-day trip to attend the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit, met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the Prime Minister’s official residence in Tokyo. The two heads of government discussed Philippine-Japanese cooperation for disaster management and reconstruction in the wake of super typhoon Yolanda, economic concerns, maritime cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and the Mindanao peace process.
