The Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) opens the door to a range of opportunities and benefits. These include:

  • Option to retire permanently
    • You may live, work, and study in the Philippines.
  • Multiple entry privileges
    • You may travel outside the Philippines and re-enter anytime.
  • Exemptions from:
    • Income tax over your pension and annuities;
    • having to secure exit and re-entry permits of the Bureau of Immigration;
    • Annual registration requirements of the Bureau of Immigration;
    • Customs duties and taxes with regard to the importation of household goods and personal effects up to $7,000;
    • Travel tax, if you stay in the Philippines is less than one year from the last entry date; and
    • having to secure an I-Card
  • If you are an SRRV holder, the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) can assist you in obtaining basic documents from other government agencies. These include, but are not limited to
    • Alien Employment Permit
    • Driver’s License
    • Tax Exemption/Extension Certificate
    • Tax Identification Number
    • National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance

A principal retiree must be at least 35 years old to enjoy the above benefits that only Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) holders are privileged to avail of.

SRRV options:

1. SRRV SMILE – for active / healthy principal retirees 35 year old and above who would just like to maintain their Visa deposit of $20,000 in any of the PRA designated banks. Click for the requirements.

2. SRRV CLASSIC – for active / healthy principal retirees who would opt to use their  Visa deposit of $10,000 or $20,000 (50 years old & above) or $50,000.00 (35 to 49 years old) to purchase condominium units or use for long term lease of house and lot. Click for the requirements.

3. SRRV COURTESY – for former Filipinos (35 years old & above), and foreign nationals (50 years old & above) who have served in the Philippines as diplomats, ambassadors, officers/staff of international organizations. The visa deposit is $1,500. Click for the requirements.

4. SRRV HUMAN TOUCH – for ailing principal retirees, (35 years old and above), who are  shown to have medical/clinical needs and services. Under this option, the retiree only needs to have a Visa deposit of $10,000, a monthly pension of at least $1,500 and a Health Insurance Policy. Click for the requirements.

The PRA provides a range of services to help the retiree settle in the country. PRA offers principal retirees and dependent children the following services:

  • Greet and Assist
    • Upon your arrival at the airport, a PRA representative will meet and will lead you to your transportation vehicle to take you to your destination. The PRA provides airport shuttles on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • 24/7 Hotline
    • You may call the PRA hotline (+63.2.848.1412) at any time of the day, seven days a week.
  • Assistance in Obtaining Basic Government Documents/Requirements
    • Our office provides you the assistance in obtaining basic government documents you may need during your stay. These include, but not limited to securing the following:
      • National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance
      • Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Registration
      • Philippine Tax Exemption
      • Medical Clearance
      • Alien Employment Permit (AEP)
      • Assistance with Banking Matters
