PROCLAMATION NO. 2037
DECLARING THE FIRST SUNDAY AND THE FIRST MONDAY OF DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS “FATHER’S DAY” AND “MOTHER’S DAY” RESPECTIVELY.
WHEREAS, the moral and material well-being of Philippine society depends upon the health and vigour of the families that compose it;
WHEREAS, the wholesome growth and normal activities of the family are in the hands of the parents, the wise exercise of whose authority is essential to the fulfilment of the natural and proper ends of the family; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that both father and mother periodically renew their acknowledgment of their respective duties as spouses and parents;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the first Sunday and the first Monday of December of every year as “Father’s Day” and “Mother’s Day”, respectively.
I call upon all people to pay tribute to Filipino parents upon whom rest the responsibility of the wholesome growths and development of the Filipino family.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
