“The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) congratulates the Catholic faithful in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Jaro and the launching of the commemorative stamps to highlight the occasion”, Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.

PHLPost printed two different designs in the denomination of P10 each which shall be available starting May 27.

The first design features the historic cathedral for the archdiocese, the Parish of Our Lady of Candles, also known as the Jaro Cathedral located in Jaro, one of six districts of Iloilo City, Iloilo province.

The well known image of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria (Our Lady of the Candles) whose feast day is celebrated every February 2nd, appeared in the design of the second stamp. The slogan: blessed, consecrated, sanctified… is printed in both stamps produced by PHLPost.

Laid-out by in house artist Vic Serevo, PHLPost printed 104,000 copies (2 designs) of the Archdiocese of Jaro commemorative stamps measuring 30X40mm.

Established on May 27, 1865, Jaro is the 5th oldest diocese in the Philippines.

The stamps and official first day cover are now available at the Central Post Office, Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila and area post offices nationwide. For inquiries, please call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32.
