Updates from AFP: Preparations and actions taken for Typhoon Lando, October 17, 2015

[October 16 APF updates]

Situation update as of 9:00 p.m.
  • In view of the potential effects of Typhoon Lando in Luzon & other parts of the country, all AFP units in Metro Manila are placed on BLUE alert status effective 171600h Oct 15.
  • In Cagayan, all roads & bridges are passable except Tawi Bridge in Brgy Callao, Peñablanca, as reported by the 17th IB.
  • 702nd Bde positioned at Camp Tito B. Abat, Manaoag, Pangasinan with appropriate security/ proceeded to Camp Oscar M Florendo, Parian, San Fernando City, La Union purposely to monitor the current situation.
  • Troops also provided security assistance to TOG1 in Baguio City for the prepositioning of Jet A1 fuel for HADR operations.
  • Troops from 24IB at Brgy Bulawein, Palawig, Zambales City proceeded to PDRRMO, Zambales to conduct liaison/monitoring on the current situation updates regarding the typhoon.
  • All DRO teams of 3rd Mechanized Battalion in Brgy. Burgos, San Jose, Tarlac are on standby alert and coordinated with PDRRMC, CDRRMC and MDRRMC for possible conduct of HADR operations.
  • Task Group North set all its respective DRO teams on standby alert and coordinated with PDRRMC, CDRRMC and MDRRMC for possible conduct of HADR operations.
