This morning, at 10:00 a.m., President Benigno S. Aquino III led the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare, which took place in Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace.

In his speech at the event, the President lauded the agency for its service to the FIlipino people: “Kitang-kita na ang pagbabago sa inyong ahensiya. May sapat na tayong pondo, kaya’t di na kailangan ng malawakang panawagan para sa mga donasyon. Kapag sinabing DSWD, ang agad nang maiisip: handang-handa at alisto. Kababalita pa lang na may paparating na bagyo, automatic na ang prepositioning ng ayuda. Nariyan ang buong ahensiya, kumpleto ang datos, para makapaghanda nang tama at maayos.”

In the afternoon, the President attended several meetings. At 1:00 p.m., he met with officials from the Department of Energy. At 2:00 p.m., he met with officials from the Department of Finance. All meetings were held in the Study Conference Room in Malacañan Palace.
