The application for the senior high school (SHS) voucher program will reopen next week, and will accept applications from April 22 to May 6 only. All applications must be done strictly online by accessing the online voucher application portal. Results will be announced on or before May 20, 2016.
The SHS voucher program is intended for students who’ve completed grade 10 and would like to pursue SHS education in a private school, private university, state university, or technical institution offering SHS starting school year 2016-2017. The program provides students with a subsidy that enables them to get a discount on the cost of tuition and other school fees.
To date, more than 50,000 non-ESC (education service contracting) students in private schools have been awarded vouchers. All public and private school students who’ve finished grade 10, and who are ESC grantees are automatically qualified voucher recipients. These students do not need to apply for vouchers.
